.NET Testers Needed

« | Mon February 16, 2004 | comments and reactions | permanent link | »

This post is more than two years old. It might be still-relevant and maybe even awesome, but it's probably outdated (and likely embarassing!) Proceed with care.

We're in need of a few kind Windows users with the .NET Framework 1.1 installed to test something out. We're attempting to embed a Mozilla control in a .NET Windows Forms app to avoid having to use an IE control and be subject to MS's restrictive licensing policies.

If you have the Framework installed (it's free, if you don't) and have a spare 3 minutes, please download this small zip archive, unzip it someplace, and try running 'test.exe'. Not to worry, the worst that can happen is it will throw an exception, run fine but the control won't work, or simply not run at all.

The test works fine for us, but we fear that it may not work for others. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Update: It appears in order for this to work, you'll also need to download and install MozillaControl16.exe. At 4.6 MB, that's way too large to include with an app just to display a friggin HTML page. Anyone know a *lightweight* way of embedding an HTML rendering control in .NET, without harsh licensing restrictions?
